Congress gears up for 2014 polls
Bengaluru: KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar on Friday discussed various issues, including preparations for next year’s elections to Lok Sabha with former external affairs minister S.M. Krishna, here on Friday.
Sources in state unit of Congress told Deccan Chronicle, “Dr Parameshwar seems to have commenced exercises which need due attention before the announcement of Lok Sabha polls. The selection of candidates for Lok Sabha elections must be done with more caution as senior central leaders of the party have high expectations about the performance in these polls. As a result, Dr Parameshwar is trying to win over every senior.”
The sources the two leaders also discussed appointment of chairmen to various state-owned enterprises as the party office was flooded with as many as 6,000 applications for these posts.
The sources said Krishna reportedly spoke up in support of party workers who toiled hard to ensure the party's victory in recent elections to the Legislative Assembly.
“Agreeing with Krishna, Dr Parameshwar stated that the party had come out with a policy on appointments to various boards and corporations. Out 100, 60 posts will be given to party workers and the rest to legislators," the sources added.
