Congress lauds Rahul remarks
Lauding young party general secretary Rahul Gandhi for his comments on Ayodhya dispute, the Congress on Friday said the leader’s take on the issue reflected the aspirations of a large section of the youth in India.
When asked if the Congress agreed to the Young leader’s comment that there are more important issues in the country than Ayodhya, AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said, “He (Mr Gandhi) contextualised the Ayodhya dispute. His statement reflected the aspirations of a large section of the youth in India.”
Adding further on the issue, Mr Tewari said, “Young India even then had felt that issues, which are connected to the daily life of the people, are more important.”
The spokesperson said that by reiterating that in a different context, Mr Gandhi has pointed towards the kind of India, which the youth of India aspire for.
At Guwahati on Thursday, Mr Gandhi suggested that there are more important fundamental issues like education and infrastructure than Ayodhya.
Interacting with students at IIT Guwahati, Mr Rahul Gandhi had said, “My personal view is that there are many fundamental issues that are much more important like infrastructure, the type of education we are providing to our youngsters and the type of technology we use.” The young leader was responding to a question on whether he thinks it is worthwhile at this time to spend so much time and energy over deciding whether a temple or mosque should be there at the disputed site in Ayodhya.
