Congress ropes in ex-guards
The Congress party has left no stone unturned to reverse the anti-incumbency factors that party was facing in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia and Dibrugarh district as in the last leg of elections the party roped in its former ministers to drum up support for the candidate.
A large section of the Congress leaders were unhappy over the re-nomination of sitting MLAs who were alleged to have failed in keeping their words.
The president of Tinsukia Bar Association, Mr Ranjit Borthakur, said that
former Union minister, Mr Matang Singh, has succeeded in influencing
the disgruntled lot of Congress men besides pulling in support from AGP stronghold.
The political observers admitted that the former minister, Mr Shiv Sambhu Ojha, was also persuaded to join the campaign.
