Congress will hold Surajkund meeting nov. 9
Over 70 top Congress leaders, including party president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, will meet in Surajkund, Haryana, on November 9 to draw up a strategy to counter the all-round attack on the PM and the party chief.
The brainstorming session will be held after the party’s national level-rally in New Delhi on Sunday (November 4).
The Congress is gearing up for a big political battle against the Opposition parties as well as civil society outfits ahead of the Winter Session of Parliament and some crucial Assembly elections.
Some parties and activist groups have levelled allegations that the government is “controlled” by big business groups.
The day-long Surjkund session will discuss threadbare three major issues — the current political situation, key economic challenges and implementation of the party’s election manifesto.
AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said Thursday that a “Samvad Baithak” (dialogue session) will be held at Surajkund. Besides Mrs Gandhi and Dr Singh, Cabinet ministers and ministers of state with independent charge, CWC members and office-bearers in charge of key states will participate in the deliberations.
Janardan Dwivedi added that it will be an informal meeting.
