Contingency plan ready ahead of report
The Centre has drawn up a contingency plan to deal with any law and order situation which may arise after the Srikrishna Committee submits its report on the Telangana issue.
A contingent of paramilitary forces has been dispatched to Andhra Pradesh which will reach Hyderabad on Thursday for deployment in sensitive places, government sources said. More forces will reach the state before December 31 when the report will be submitted to Union home minister P. Chidambaram.
Official sources said the Centre does not want to take any chances because of the sensitive nature of the statehood demand. The sources said the five-member committee, headed by former Supreme Court Judge B.N. Srikrishna is giving finishing touches to the report which is expected to be submitted next week. The committee has completed its visit to Andhra Pradesh and consultation with all stakeholders, they said.
