Convict dies in UP jail
A prisoner convicted for life died in the district jail here on Tuesday night leading to a strong protest by other prison inmates there.
Jail sources said that Babbal Yadav (33), who was convicted in a 302 case, complained of severe chest pain late in the night and before the doctor could arrive he died.
As soon as the other inmates got the news of the death they lodged a strong protest and raised slogans.
They also stopped the staff from taking away the body.
Senior officials soon rushed to the jail premises, calmed the prisoners and brought the situation under control, the sources said.
District magistrate Govind Raju has ordered a judicial and magisterial enquiry in this connection.
A team of three doctors has also been asked to conduct the post mortem examination.
