Cop moves hc after house panel summons

A breach of privilege against a woman police inspector may snowball into a controversy between the legislature and judiciary. The Rajasthan Assembly has ordered the director-general of police (DGP) to arrest inspector Ratna Gupta and produce her before the privilege committee.

Though the woman inspector was not available for comment, her father G.C. Gupta said she was innocent. “We will take legal course,” he said.
The issue took a new turn when the House committee summoned Ms Gupta and she moved a petition before the high court against it. The court had issued notices to chairman of the committee and secretary of the Assembly.
