Cops: Bhushan CD is genuine

The Delhi police has claimed in a report to a court here that the CD containing conversations purportedly between noted lawyer Shanti Bhushan and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and expelled SP leader Amar Singh “is not doctored or tampered with”.

The police, citing the opinions of CFSL Delhi and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), said there was “no editing and tampering with the CD” and that Mr Amar Singh had confirmed his conversation on the CD with Mr Yadav. The police told the court: “Since the opinions given by CFSL Delhi and CERT-In are similar and the CERT-In, having expertise in information technology, confirms/corroborates the opinion of CFSL Delhi, there is no reason to disbelieve these two reports.”
The police has sought permission to close the case, saying there was “no substantive evidence to prove the offence of forgery, as alleged by him (Mr Bhushan)”.
