Cops say model killed self, but look for her boyfriend
Supermodel Viveka Babajee, who committed suicide at her Khar residence on Friday night, was believed to be mentally disturbed. The Khar police recovered a pack of sleeping pills from Viveka’s flat. The post-mortem reports have ruled out foul play and place the time of death at about seven hours before the body was discovered.
Senior police inspector (Khar police station) Mangesh Pote said, “The post-mortem reports have confirmed it’s a suicide. We have taken Viveka’s cellphone, laptop, a diary and several letters addressed to one Gautam Vora and are conducting inquiries. Vora, however, is untraceable and efforts are on to reach him,” Mr Pote said.
Another officer claimed the last entry in Viveka’s diary referred to “Vora” and that he is a stockbroker. A team of officers was sent to his residence, but he was not found there. Mr Vora’s cellphone was unreachable despite repeated attempts by this correspondent to contact him.
Viveka’s former boyfriend, Rohit Jugraj, told the police in a statement: “I know her well, she would never do something so extreme without a serious reason behind it.”
Neighbours told the police that Mr Vora had come to Viveka’s residence Thursday night and the two had argued loudly.
