Cops track down missing Hyderabad girls

Hyderabad: The two students of Saint Ann’s High School, Tarnaka, who went missing on Tuesday were tracked down by the Osmania University police at Tarnaka in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Police said the girls wanted to flee as one of them was afraid that her parents would punish her for scoring low marks. “They did not want to go back home. So they decided to leave the city,” OU inspector P. Ashok said.
The girls, S. Sruthi, 15, and her classmate, Jafra, 15, had gone missing on Tuesday night after school. A team of the OU police found the girls in their friend’s flat at Bagyasree Apartments in Tarnaka. The police handed them over to their parents.
Police said that Jafra, who hailed from an Anglo Indian family had scored low marks in her examination. “Her mother had beat her when she got low marks last time. She was worried that her marks would be low this time too. So she decided to flee,” said Ashok. The second girl, Sruthi from Mettuguda accompanied her as she was her friend.
Jafra’s family used to live at Bagyasree Apartments. As they did not know where to go at night, they went to their friend’s house, police said.
The cops said the parents assured that they would not scold them anymore. The case at the police station would be closed.
