The CBI is all set to send Letters Rogatory (LRs) to the UK, Mauritius, Italy and Tunisia to get details about certain overseas companies and individuals based there in connection with its probe related to `3,600 crore AgustaWestland helicopter deal next week.
Sources in the CBI confirmed that draft LRs will be sent to the Union ministry of home affairs for approval on Monday. “The CBI will seek details about certain overseas companies, including Italy-based Finmeccanica, Agusta-Westland, IDS Tunisia and IDS Mauritius, in its LRs which will be sent to the UK, Mauritius, Italy and Tunisia”, sources said. All judicial requests are likely to be sent to these countries next week, sources added. The LR is a judicial request issued by a competent court to a foreign court and processed by the ministry of external affairs on behalf of the investigative agencies to obtain information about individuals and entities.
