Countdown to UPA fall has begun: BJP
BJP general secretary in-charge Madhya Pradesh affairs Ananth Kumar said here on Saturday that the ruling UPA coalition is disintegrating and the countdown for the fall of the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre has begun.
Mr Kumar, accompanied by state BJP president Prabhat Jha, was addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters here. He said that the Congress has been losing every election over the last few years and cited the example of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Bihar. With the Bihar Assembly election results, even the magic of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has come to an end, he said, adding that the Congress would go for a further slide down in the Assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
With the present round of Assembly elections, Mr Kumar said the country is going to witness a new polarisation of political forces, especially since the Communists would be ousted from power in West Bengal and Kerala. He said a situation has been reached where the possibility of a mid-term Lok Sabha election cannot be ruled out, this despite the fact that UPA-2 got more seats than the UPA-1. The Congress had refused to address burning issues like corruption, price rise and black money that are agitating the masses and the country is on the threshold of another movement like the post-Emergency Jaya Prakash Movement, he said, adding that the BJP is ready to play a leading role on this front.
Mr Kumar said that the BJP has decided to organise rallies all over the country against the UPA government.
