Court pulls up CBI for maligning Anagha family
Thiruvananthapuram: CBI special court here on Thursday pulled up the CBI for its conclusion in the Kaviyoor family suicide case that teenage girl Anagha was sexually abused by her father Narayanan Namboothiri. CBI’s findings were based on assumptions and many questions still remained unanswered, court observed.
Considering a further investigation report filed by the CBI, the court asked whether the investigation team looked into the involvement of two males with whom Anagha reportedly had some connections.
The CBI’s conclusion that no males other than Anagha's father were in touch with her during the three days prior to her death had no ground. “Did the CBI deploy any security personnel at Anagha's house to conclude that no males visited the house during those days ?” CBI special judge R. Reghu asked.
The court also pointed out that had Anagha faced any harassment from her father, she could have mentioned it in the suicide note reportedly prepared by her. "If it was a case of mass suicide by all members of the family, what was the need for two suicide notes?" asked the court.
