CPM on feedback mission
Former chief minister and CPI(M) politburo member Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Thursday said thousands of CPI(M) cadres have fanned out in the villages to find out why the people did not vote for the Left Front in the last Assembly
election. “We were defeated because the people turned away from us. We are trying to find out what mistakes did we make. We are going to those people with bowed heads, asking them to tell us where did we go wrong and what mistakes did we commit,” he added. Mr Bhattacharjee was addressing a large public rally at Friends Union Club ground at Berham-pore in Murshidabad.
Accusing the Trinamul Congress of making an organised attack on Left supporters and unions, Mr Bhattacharjee said: “Our offices and workers are being attacked. Thousands have been injured. They are forcing out our union leaders. But people will not tolerate them anymore. They have now realised their mistake of voting such people to power.”
In an attempt to galvanise party ranks, Mr Bhattacharjee said: “But we need to be patient. We will not bow down to their atrocities, we would not leave the field. We have to change things and rebuild our organisation and go back to the poor. The former chief minister also hit out at the new government for not presenting the budget in the Assembly.
