CPM to meet on July 3-4
As the CPI(M) is preparing to battle a strong Opposition during the 2011 Assembly elections in West Bengal, the party is also reviewing the political line adopted by it at the national level.
The CPI(M) politburo is expected to meet on July 3-4 to discuss the political situation in West Bengal and also finalise a draft resolution which will be presented at the extended meeting of the central committee in Vijayawada scheduled in August.
Earlier this month, the CPI(M) politburo had met but it had failed reach a consensus on a draft of their review on political decisions taken after the 2007 Party Congress.
The meeting had remained inconclusive owing to the differences on the implementation of the political line adopted in the last Party Congress.
While the Bengal unit of the party is viewing the decision to cobble up a third front during the 2009 Lok Sabha polls as a major factor for the party’s debacle, the party’s central leadership has blamed its state unit for alienation between the party and its support base.
There are also difference within the party with regard to aligning with the non-BJP, non-Congress parties like the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and others during the past three years.
The party politburo is expected to discuss the issue over the weekend.
