CPM opposes move to hike power tariff
Rajahmundry: CPM takes up a signature campaign in prote-st against the imposition of fuel surcharge adjustment and also on the proposed revision of the power tariff.
Inaugurating the campaign held at Nandam Ganiraju Junction here on Wednesday, CPM district secretary T. Ar-un flayed the Congress government for imposing nearly `12,700 crore additional burden upon the power consumers.
The CPM leader said that when the general public were already facing hardships due to rise in prices of essential commodities, domestic gas and fuels, the revision in power hike would further burden them.
Mr Arun blamed the state government for allowing private agencies for power generation and distribution leading the hike in the power tariff.
He faulted the state government further for failing to influence the Centre for getting allocation of 50 per cent of gas deposits available in Krishna-Godavari basin to the state.
