CPM to review party status in bengal meet
CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat will be attending the state committee meeting which is commencing on Friday. “This is going to be very important event as the one-day state committee meeting will be followed by the two-day extended state committee,” CPI(M) central committee member and party spokesperson Mohammed Salim said on Thursday.
According to Mr Salim, the meeting is being organised to review the party organisation’s status since its exit from power in the state in May 2011. The party leaders will also chalk out the future course of action in the next six months. “The party leadership will also review the progress of implementation of the decisions which were taken in the last Party Congress and in the last state conference,” Mr Salim added.
The purpose of the extended state committee is the participation of district party leaders along with the state secretariat leaders. “The CPI(M) leadership wants to hear from the district leaders if the party’s position has improved in the districts in the past six months in view of the growing unpopularity of the Mamata Banerjee government,” a state secretariat member said. Alimuddin Street bosses are desperate to galvanise the party cadres and strengthen party organisation.
