CPM’s delhi visit narrow politics: tmc
Angered by the meetings of a Left Front delegation with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union finance minister P. Chidambaram to press for their demand for a CBI probe into Saradha chit fund scam, the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal accused the Opposition of doing narrow politics on the occasion of Tagore’s birthday. “Today the state is celebrating the 152nd birth anniversary of Gurudev Tagore with traditional fervour. The CPI(M) has chosen this important day in the cultural calendar of the state to go to Delhi to do narrow politics. We condemn this,” industry minister Partha Chatterjee said.
He said that the chief minister and Trinamul Congress chief will give a befitting reply to the CPI(M) on Friday. “Trinamul Congress is organising a rally in Burdwan tomorrow where Ms Banerjee will be the main speaker and she will give a befitting reply to all the canards which the CPI(M) is spreading against us,” he added.
The chief minister has already addressed two rallies: Panihati in North 24 Parganas and Shyambazar in the city. “The rally at Burdwan has been hastily scheduled clearly as a reaction to the Left delegation’s Delhi visit,” a Trinamul Congress MLA said.
