CPWD retd engineer is held for graft
The CBI on Friday arrested a retired chief engineer of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and a private person on graft charges. The accused engineer had retired just a day before he was arrested.
According to sources CBI officials also conducted searches at the residences of D.K. Saxena, retired chief engineer of the CPWD, located in Delhi and Siliguri (West Bengal) and recovered unaccounted cash worth Rs 1.5 crores and some incriminating documents.
Sources in the CBI said, “A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against Saxena, posted in Siliguri, on Thursday by the CBI.
A day after his retirement, Saxena, along with a private person namely Debashish Ghose, was arrested by the CBI sleuths on Friday.”
Saxena was posted in Siliguri and was responsible for ensuring flood-lighting work along the Indo-Bangla border.
