Crib deaths: Hospitals get clean chit
Union minister of state for health Sudip Bandopadhyay on Monday gave a clean-chit to the Mamata Banerjee government for the death of 17 new-borns at Dr B.C. Roy Memorial Hospital for Children in Kolkata. He also rubbished the reports of negligence into the death of 17 infants at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital in Burdwan.
“There was no negligence found in the death of the infants who were admitted at the hospitals in critical condition. So I am giving clean-chit to the hospital authorities although health is absolutely a state subject,” Mr Bandopa-dhyay said during the inauguration of a new-born care unit at the biggest paediatric hospital of the state.
