Cricket betting racket busted, five bookies arrested
Police on Wednesday claimed to have busted a cricket betting racket with the arrest of five bookies and recovered electronic gadgets, cash and satta (gambling) slips collectively worth Rs 3.5 crore.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided a house in Ghoghar Mohalla, where satta was being operated upon by the bookies on the ongoing IPL matches, police said on Wednesday.
Police said they have seized 21 mobile phones, a computer, two laptops, Rs 86,400 cash and satta slips worth over Rs 3.5 crore from them.
The arrested persons were identified as Raviram Gani, Mukeshlal Gani, Sonu Digwani, Naresh Sharwani and one Anil.
A case has been registered against all of them in this regard and further investigations are on.
