Salem: A 24-year-old police constable, attached to the Kovaipudur police station in Coimbatore district, was arrested on Friday for repeatedly raping his former college mate, now a married woman, from Mettur in Salem district, and for filming the act and uploading it on the Internet.
The accused, S. Sathish from Malayampalayam, Salem district, had recently joined the police force as a constable and was working in Coimbatore district. During his college days, Satish had a relationship with the 25-year-old woman, and had been intimate with her during their late teens.
“Satish had secretly filmed the intimacy between the two and had used it as a blackmail to get the young woman into a physical relationship whenever he chose to,” a police official said.
Last year, the woman had got married and had settled down near Jalakandapuram, in Salem district, but Satish continued to harass her for sexual favours.
“Recently, the constable went to the extent of exposing their relationship to the woman’s husband and uploaded the visuals on the Internet,” a police official said. The woman filed a complaint against the constable and he was arrested under several sections of the IPC, including rape.

Hyderabad: A 27-year-old man was arrested by the Cyber Crime Police, Cyberabad, for creating a fake Face-book account, and uploading pictures of a woman who rejected his love proposal.
The accused also sent and accepted requests in her name. He called her and her family members and threatened them. The accused, N. Santhosh Kumar, works for a private firm and is a resident of Subramanyam Nagar, Bengaluru.
According to Janaki Sharmila, additional DCP, Crimes, Cyberabad, Santhosh met the woman during a course in Bengaluru. He started harassing her when she returned home.
The woman’s brother, N. Madhusudan, lodged the complaint a week ago stating that his sister was being harassed by Santhosh. The accused had confessed to the charges.

Nellore: Subbarayudu, 22, attempted to molest a 65-year-old woman on the outskirts of Paturu village in Kovur mandal on Friday.
Subbarayudu was drunk. He hit the woman hard when she resisted his moves and injured her. Locals thrashed the accused when they came to know of the incident.
Kovur SI Gangadharam said that they have registered a case and have arrested the accused.

Hyderabad: Two unidentified women were found brutally murdered in two separate incidents in the city on Friday. In the first incident, a woman’s body was found abandoned at the IDL Cheruvu in Kukatpally. There were multiple injuries to her face.
According to Kukatpally SI Chandrasekhar, in the early hours of Friday, a local resident found the woman dead in a pool of blood. “The victim was about 30-32 years old.
She had injuries and blood stains all over her face,” Chandrasekhar said. Though it is suspected that the victim was raped before being killed, the cops said that for now it cannot be confirmed.
A case has been registered. Meanwhile, in Nalandanagar, Rajendranagar, another unidentified woman was found murdered in an isolated spot.
The victim, also in her 30s, was hit by a boulder. S. Jayaram, the Rajendranagar inspector, said, “The victim was accompanied by the accused. An argument may have led to murder.”

Hyderabad: The dismissed Police Transport Organisation head constable Giri Prasad Sharma, who was arrested on Thursday by the city police, confessed that he had kidnapped Ramana Rao, a senior assistant in the PTO, on Wednesday, to get his name re-enlisted.
On Wednesday, Sharma took Rao to a rented room in Saroornagar. “There he got him drunk, locked up the room and went to Kacheguda to break the news to media to pressurise higher officials to re-enlist him,” Tarun Joshi, DCP South Zone, said.
Based on a complaint lodged by Rao’s son, the Charminar police registered a case and with the assistance of the Task Force, arrested Sharma.
According to Joshi, Sharma was dismissed earlier because of a kidnap issue. “After he got out on bail, he sought Ramana’s help to get his name re-enlisted in the PTO, but this could not happen. So he hatched the kidnap plan,” Joshi said.

Woman involved in 7 thefts arrested
Hyderabad: The Gopalpuram police on Friday arrested a 36-year-old woman, Govula Janaki, who is allegedly involved in seven theft cases. Janaki used to divert the attention of RTC bus passengers and rob them.
She would select a woman passenger and position herself close to the target. Janaki would then drop some coins in the bus to divert the target’s attention.
The moment the target would bend to pick the coins, Janaki would throw her scarf on top of the target’s bags and possessions, scoop them up and walk away.
The cops recovered about 310gm gold worth Rs 10 lakh. The accused is a resident of Mallapur, Ranga Reddy district.

Bengaluru: The Mico Layout police have arrested two persons for allegedly assaulting a traffic policeman, who had earlier booked the brother of one of them for drunken driving.
The accused have been identified as Shivaraj alias Kumar (25) and Nabidulah (21). Kumar had assaulted the police for allegedly registering drink and drive complaint against his brother.
Both were arrested from BTM Layout.The duo had assaulted Rame Gowda, an assistant sub-inspector of police attached to Mico Layout traffic police station in the wee hours of August 16.
Police said that Kumar is a school drop out and unemployed. “He is a vagabond and was earlier involved in a robbery case registered in Mico Layout police station. Though his parents stay in Tavarekere, he lives in a rented room in BTM Layout along with his friends.”
“Around 12.30 am on August 16, Kumar and his friend were going on a bike and both were under the influence of alcohol. At Sagar Hospital junction near BTM Layout, they saw Gowda, who was on night duty.
“They stopped and assaulted him. They punched Gowda, who was alone, and hit him with a helmet and fled,” the police said.
Gowda was treated at a private hospital and later he had filed a police complaint. The police had rounded up several suspects.
“There were no clues about the assailants. However, after a thorough investigation and checking the antecedents of anti-social elements in the area, it was found that Kumar and Nabidulah had assaulted the cop. Based on credible information, the two were nabbed,” the police said.
