CRPF jawan commits suicide

A CRPF jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle on Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, officials said.

Constable R K Medhi (26) shot himself dead with his service rifle at a camp in Adipora village in Sopore, 55 km from here, they said.

Medhi, a resident of Assam, died on the spot, they said, adding that the motive behind the jawan taking the extreme step is yet to be known.

The jawan had resumed duties in December after availing 60 days of leave. He had joined the force in 2006 and was unmarried, the officials said.
