CU panel to probe Prof case
May 11: A week after one of the professors of the Calcutta University (CU) was suspended for molesting one of his students, a probe committee has been constituted against another professor of the same varsity for misbehaving with his students.
In April, the Left-wing students union at the Ballygunge Science College had submitted a complaint with vice-chancellor Suranjan Das against a professor of the bio-chemistry department alleging that he had misbehaved with the female students.
“A two member fact-finding committee comprising vice-chancellor’s nominated Narayani Gupta and deputy registrar Sujit Barua to probe the charges against the alleged professor,” Prof. Das said. He added that the committee will submit its report to the vice-chancellor and syndicate of the varsity by the end of May. “After receiving complaints from students, I directed the head of the department to find out the details of the allegation,” Prof Das said.
