Cup replica didn’t hurt pride: Omar
Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah does not endorse the view that the glittering ICC World Cup Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his teammates kissed, hugged and adorned so passionately at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday night being a fake has hurt the national pride. What is ample and gratifying is India won the cup, he said.
“I mean, honestly, does anyone really believe national pride has been dented because we got a replica. We won the world cup that’s what counts,” the chief minister tweeted on Monday.
The CM is however yet to react to pleas from many of those who follow him on Twitter that Jammu and Kashmir should felicitate Suresh Kumar Raina as the governments in Delhi, Gujarat and some other states have done with their respective players. Raina is from Rainawari, an erstwhile Kashmiri Pandit dominated locality in central Srinagar.
