Curfew eased in Kashmir Valley
The residents of Kashmir on Tuesday got respite after 10 days as authorities relaxed curfew here and other major towns in a phased manner.
Although some areas in the periphery of the Valley got respite before noon, curfew was relaxed in the summer capital soon after the all-party delegation headed by Union home minister P. Chidambaram wrapped up its visit.
Curfew was imposed in Srinagar on September 12 and was extended to the entire Kashmir Valley the next day following widespread violence. This is the second time that authorities announced relaxation in curfew during the past 10 days. The curfew was relaxed in a phased manner in Srinagar city on Saturday.
Official sources said barring protests and some minor incidents of stone-pelting in Anantnag district town and parts of Sopore town in Baramulla district, no major incident was reported from anywhere in the Valley so far. —PTI
