Curfew reimposed in parts of Valley
Curfew was reimposed in parts of the Kashmir Valley, including Baramulla, Pulwama and Anantnag towns and in Srinagar’s Maisuma area, after crowds chanting separatist slogans returned to the streets and stone-pelting youths clashed with the police at some places on Saturday.
No relaxation in curfew was allowed in southern Kakapora town and northwestern Sopore, In parts of central Srinagar, the police and CRPF continued security restrictions under Section 144 CrPC disallowing five or more people assembling.
Curfew was reimposed in Pulwama as tension rose after a national TV news channel reported that an injured civilian had succumbed in hospital.
While the TV channel later retracted the story and apologised, the police registered a case against the channel and its local reporter. n More: Page 3
