CVC finds ‘irregularities’ in Games projects
The Central Vigilance Comm-ission (CVC) has found alleged irregularities in several projects related to the Commonwealth Games being carried out by various civic and construction agencies in the national capital.
The anti-corruption watc-hdog, through its chief technical examiner’s wing, made an assessment and had found irregularities in 14 construction projects, official sources said.
“We have found corruption in many Games-related construction projects. After thorough examination of the assessment made by our officials, we will be writing to the concerned civic agencies to probe them,” a senior CVC official said.
The official said they will be re-examining all the tenders and procurement pro-ess related to the Games projects. Chief vigilance commissioner Pratyush Sinha had earlier said that the watchdog had kept all projects under the scanner following complaints of alleged corruption.
“Apart from expeditiously attending to complaints relating to the Games, the commission, through its chief technical examiner’s wing, was already keeping a close watch on all the contracts and works undertaken for the Commonwealth Games,” Mr Sinha had said.
The decision came following complaints alleging discrepancies in the work being undertaken by civic agencies like the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, New Delhi Municipal Council, Delhi Development Auth-ority, among others. —PTI
