CVC questions OC officials
While widening its investigation into alleged financial irregularities to include 22 more Commonwealth Games-related construction works carried out by different government agencies, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) on Sunday questioned CWG Organising Committee (OC) officials in connection with alleged wrongdoings in CWG-related projects.
The questioning was carried out a day after OC chief Suresh Kalmadi stated to the media that “the committee is ready to face a probe”. CVC officials are likely to summon officials of civic agencies as part of their investigations. Senior CVC officials have confirmed that questioning of civic agencies officials involved in Games-related projects is likely to start on Monday and will continue for three days.
CVC officials on Sunday pointed out, “The commission had also questioned Raj Kumar Sacheti, joint director-general of the Commonwealth Games, who is considered a close aide of organising committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi.” However, the senior CVC officials refused to give details of the questioning.
