Dabholkar killing: Hindu outfits allege harassment

The Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janjagruti Samiti has decided to bring together all pro-Hindutva groups across Maharashtra to protest against the state government, alleging harassment from the police over the killing of anti-superstition crusader Dr Narendra Dabholkar. The protest will be held on September 1 at around 29 places all over Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, the hardline Right-wing groups also alleged that the investigation of Dr Dabholkar’s murder was not in the right direction and that they suspect the NCP to be behind the murder of the activist. They are also considering issuing defamation notices to some politicians, along with some media groups for maligning their image in the Dr Dabholkar case.
Uday Dhuri, Mumbai coordinator of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, said, “We have decided to bring together all pro-Hindutva groups against the government over three issues. They are harassment of activists from Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, harassment of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu by slapping fake charges and also against the anti-blind faith ordinance which was issued without consulting the Warkari community or any other organisations opposing the anti-blind faith bill.”
Talking to reporters, advocate Sanjeev Punhalekar of the Sanatan Sanstha said that they were being harassed by the police on the behest of the NCP, that has the home portfolio of the state. “Political parties like the NCP are making the murder of Dr Dabholkar an asset for their political gain. We believe that the investigation in this case is on the wrong path. The issue could have its connections with the NCP,” advocate Punhalekar accused.
Abhay Vartak, spokesperson of the Sanatan Sanstha claimed that it was an international conspiracy to end all the pro-Hindutva groups from India.
