Dalit leaders hit back at Rahul Gandhi

AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, who is on a three-day visit to the state to boost the party’s membership drive, seems to be alienating the party’s old allies. His comment that the dalits don’t have any youth leaders to look forward to has slighted dalit organisations across the state. He said that those who claim to be dalit leaders are in the leadership position because they inherited the same from their families.

Dalit leaders across the state have reacted strongly against his remarks. “For someone who is in politics because he is the son of someone and grandson of someone else and whose very existence is based on what he got by inheritance should not be making such comments about others,” said Prakash Ambedkar, leader of Bhartiya Republic Party’s Bahujan Maha-sangh.
