DC report helps Shravani head for home
A private firm in Kochi has come forward to help Shravani, the Andhra girl whose saga of begging on the streets here to earn money for a teachers’ training course (TTC) in her state was carried in these columns.
She was already on her journey back home on Saturday.
Someone who declined to provide his identity called up this correspondent late in the morning on Saturday and said he was interested in extending financial assistance to the girl to enable her join the TTC course.
When DC informed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), which rescued Shravani with the support of police and accommodated her at Mahilamandiram, the CWC member Abdhul Samad said she was taken back to Ananthapur, her native place, accompanied by two women constables and a policeman.
