Dead lizard found in mid-day meal

Over sixty school children fell sick after eating food served under the mid-day meal scheme at Government Primary School in Maddevri village under Lakhnadoun block today, police said.

Upon inspection, a dead lizard was found in the food, said Lakhnadoun's Block Medical Officer (BMO), Dr JPS Parteti.

The children, after the meal, complained of vomiting and over 60 of them were brought to Lakhnadoun.

A dozen of them, who were in a serious condition, were shifted to Seoni district hospital.

District Panchayat CEO, Sanket Bhondwe, has ordered suspension of Santosh Uikey, a teacher, and directed the officials to register an FIR.
