Deaf and dumb girl raped in West Bengal

A 20-year-old youth was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 17-year-old deaf and dumb girl after kidnapping her from Hemtabad area in North Dinajpur district, police sources said.

The youth, Ranjit Das, was arrested on the basis of an FIR at the Hemtabad police station by the victim that she was kidnapped by him from Siliguri More on the Nantional Highway 34 on June 24 and raped, the sources said.

The girl returned home on Monday and lodged the complaint with the police. A local court remanded the youth to 14 days judicial custody.
