‘Defeat Khurshid, elect physically-challenged’
“You have seen what your representative has done and how he has taken away the money that was meant for our less-fortunate brothers. If you want to teach him a lesson, I appeal to you to elect a physically-challenged person in the next Lok Sabha election from Farukkhabad and send a message to the world,” said Indian against Corruption (IAC) activist Arvind Kejriwal at a rally in Farukkhabad on Thursday.
He was greeted with an uproar from the crowds as he introduced the physically challenged persons whose names figured in the list of beneficiaries of the Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust that is headed by Mr Khurshid and his wife and all the “beneficiaries” denied having received the same.
Some were in perfectly healthy condition but their names figured in the list of wheelchairs while others said that they had received tricycles in 2005 but the list repeated their names in 2009.
Mr Kejriwal vowed to continue his crusade against corruption and alleged that the UP government was in cahoots with the Centre and was going out of its way to protest Mr Salman Khurshid. “The UP government has not ordered any probe against the trust for embezzlement of funds,” he pointed out.
