Delhi all set to get national press centre
The national capital will soon have a new state-of-the-art National Press Centre. A project that was envisaged over a decade ago (in 2001) is finally expected to be inaugurated in the next few days.
It is learnt that the Union information and broadcasting ministry has sought the time from Prime Minister’s Office for the inauguration of the NPC at the earliest. Sources stated that the facility will be inaugurated as soon as the PMO allocates time and finalises the schedule of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the event.
Once inaugurated, the NPC is expected to serve as a nerve centre for both national and international media. The Centre will have international standards press centre facilities like a telecommunication centre, a press conference hall, media briefing rooms, a large work area and lounge for the press which would include editing and other professional facilities like a library.
