Delhi blast: Police arrest 3 in J&K, death toll rises to 12
A 40-year-old man, injured on Wednesday’s blast outside the Delhi high court, died at a hospital here on Thursday taking the toll to 12 while the condition of four of the victims continued to be critical.
Pramod Kumar (40), a resident of west Delhi’s Hari Nagar, breathed his last at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital this morning, hospital and police officials said.
Meanwhile, in Kashmir, from where a HuJi email was sent claiming responsibility for the blasts, officials say they have vital clues about the person who had sent the email. A cyber cafe in Kishtwar was raided by cops early today and owners, Khajwa Mehmood Aziz and his brother Khalid Aziz, were questioned.
“We have got some details about the physical features of the person. Police parties have been deputed to trace him," a senior police officer working on the investigations said.
According to police sources, the email was sent from the address harkatuljihadi2011@gmail.com. The outfit had on Wednesday claimed responsibility for the blast outside the Delhi high court.
No formal arrests have been made so far.
"We own the responsibility of today's blast at (the) high court (in) Delhi. Our demand is that Afzal Guru's death sentence should be repealed immediately else would target major high courts and the Supreme Court of India," the HuJI email read.
Guru has been sentenced to death by the Supreme Court after he was convicted for the December 13, 2001 parliament attack.
"We are taking the email seriously," National Investigation Agency (NIA) chief S.C. Sinha had said.
On Wednesday’s suitcase bomb went off around 10.30 am. just outside Gate No. 5 of the complex near India Gate in central Delhi, where passes are issued for hundreds of litigants, media personnel and other visitors to the court.
