Delhi court bail to Jayachandran

The Delhi high court on Wednesday granted bail to Commonwealth Games (CWG) Organising Committee (OC) official M. Jayachandran, as the CBI failed to complete its probe and file the chargesheet against him within the stipulated 60-day period after his arrest in the Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) scam.

Justice Hima Kohli granted bail to Mr Jayachandran, joint director (finance) in the OC. He was arrested by the CBI on November 21, 2010, for making questionable payments to Indian-owned London-based private firm A.M. Car and Van Hire Limited during the QBR function in London.
Meanwhile, the investigating agency also admitted before the court that they were not going to file any chargesheet in the case.
The HC granted bail to Mr Jayachandran on a personal bail bond of `50,000 and two sureties of the like amount. Earlier, two CWG officials, Sanjay Mahendroo and T.S. Darbari, were also given bail by the court as the CBI has failed to file a chargesheet in the case.

CIC asks OC to disclose ticket policy
AGE CORRESPONDENT
NEW DELHI

Jan. 19: The Central Information Commission has asked the Organising Committee of the Commonwealth Games to disclose the policy under which the complimentary tickets and free passes were given away during the event.
The ticketing policy of the Organising Committee had come under the scanner as spectators were left with not tickets on the one hand, while the stadia went empty on the other.
Information commissioner M.L. Sharma, while hearing an RTI plea on the issue, asked the OC to give all details of the policy under which distribution of complimentary tickets was approved along with other relevant details.
The petitioner had earlier sought information under the RTI Act from the OC about the policy followed for distribution of tickets.
