Democratisation is key: Rahul
Corruption, poverty and democratisation of the organisation figured prominently in Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s speech at a two-day national convention of the elected office-bearers of the Indian Youth Congress.
Elections in the Youth Congress were held in true democratic spirit and that is the reason why several youth who have no political background and high connections got elected.
“We have over one crore young people with us in the youth wing. The Congress’ youth wing is the largest in the country. We have achieved this in the past three years. All of you have been elected by your own cadres. No one jumped to this position because you were related to some politician,” Mr Gandhi said.
Elected office-bearers will not be changed till they complete their term. They could be changed only on the ground of violating the party discipline, he added.
Indian Youth Congress chief Rajeev Satav, AICC general secretary Birender Singh, CWC member Jagmeet Sinbh Brar, AICC secretary Anees Ahmed, former election commission official K.J. Rao, Delhi Congress chief and MP, J.P. Agarwal, Suresh Sharma addressed the delegates in the session.
