Dharmana lands in fresh trouble

Hyderabad: Fresh trouble is brewing for former minister Dharmana Prasad Rao in the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s quid pro quo investments case.
The CBI has summoned Dharmana to appear before it on August 21 in connection with the Lepakshi Knowledge Hub land allotments conspiracy, also part of the Jagan Mohan Reddy case.
The former revenue minister recently got some relief when the CBI special court at Nampally dismissed the CBI’s plea to send him to judicial custody because they said he was influencing witnesses.
The CBI is probing the allegation that the government had allotted more than 8,840 acres of land worth Rs 1,768 crore in Lepakshi Knowledge Hub to Indu Projects, which later invested in Jagan Mohan Reddy’s companies.
Rao said, “I am appearing before the CBI on Wednesday in connection with the Lepakshi issue. The meeting chaired by the late CM Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy had decided to acquire and hand over land to AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation in Anantapur. The Cabinet approved the decision and allotted land to APIIC.”
He added that later APIIC allotted the land to Indu Projects. “We have no role in this further allotment. Our role ends with handing over land to APIIC, which is another government body. CBI officials told me that they would like to pose some questions to me regarding the Lepakshi Knowledge Hub in Anantapur. I am going to answer them.”
