Didi proposes 3rd front to YSR mom
West Bengal chief minister and Trinamul leader Mamata Banerjee on Sunday called up YSR Congress honorary president Y.S. Vijayalakshmi and proposed that the Trinamul and the YSRC come together for the snap polls that she thinks may be held in November.
Ms Banerjee’s offer came after Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu had stated that he was in touch with Ms Banerjee for the creation of a third alternative at the Centre.
Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao also said recently that his son and MLA K.T. Rama Rao was in touch with Ms Banerjee regarding the proposed third front after the Lok Sabha elections.
It seems, though, that Ms Banerjee has ignored both the parties and on Sunday invited Ms Vijayalakshmi to join her proposed Federal Front.
Ms Banerjee first called Ms Vijayalakshmi at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district on Sunday when the latter was attending a church service. Ms Banerjee then called again at 1 pm. Ms Banerjee is said to have told Ms Vijayalakshmi that the LS polls are likely to be held much before May 2014 and that the possibility of like-minded parties coming together should be explored.
She proposed that the TMC and the YSRC can come together for the snap polls which she said are likely to be held in November. She said Ms Vijayalakshmi should run the proposal past her son and YSRC’s incarcerated president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Ms Vijayala-kshmi agreed to do so. Ms Banerjee also inquired after Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy and the cases he is charged with and recalled her association with the late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.
