Diggy foils call to oust Gogoi
AICC general secretary incharge of Assam, Digvijay Singh, who was on a fact-finding mission, here on Saturday put an end to all speculation on replacement of Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi saying that he will complete his term.
Mr Singh, who had been camping here since Thursday, also clarified that party was not going to tolerate any indiscipline. “Any act of indiscipline will be dealt firmly,” warned Mr Singh.
Asserting that Mr Gogoi enjoys the confidence of the party high command and the Congress Legislature Party, Mr Singh told reporters, “Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi has also agreed to set up a cell in his office to receive and address the grievances of the legislators.”
In what has left the dissident camp disappointed, Mr Singh made it clear that reshuffle in council of minister is always the prerogative of the CM who is free to do it whenever he wishes. Mr Singh said, “We also reviewed the performance of the party in the panchayat elections.”
