Diggy: HC decision best possible one

Even as the party has stated that a final verdict on the Ayodhya land title suit is yet to come with a possible appeal in the Supreme Court, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Friday said that Allahabad high court’s judgment in the case was the best possible judicial pronouncement under the circumstances.
Speaking to a TV channel, Mr Singh said, “In the present circumstances, there could not have been a better judgment. It has recognised the rights of the Hindus and Muslims both.” He, however, reiterated his earlier formulation that the best way to resolve the dispute was to come to some kind of “reconciliation” between the two parties. But he suggested that for “God’s sake leave politicians and political parties” out of the dispute.
Mr Singh, who is also the AICC general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, contended that the party had held that the issue should be resolved out of the court but if it cannot be done, “we should accept the court verdict”. The Congress leader argued that the issue is so complex that we need a solution, which should be seen as balancing both the sides.
“There has to be a judgment which is a win-win situation for all, he added. At the same time, he maintained, the demolition of the Babri Masjid cannot be condoned and it has to be taken to its logical end.

Assam CM unhappy with verdict

Oct. 8: A week after the Allahabad high court’s verdict on the Ayodhya-Babri Masjid dispute, Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday created a major controversy by criticising the judgment of the court while expressing his displeasure on the verdict and asserting that a title suit on land cannot be settled on the basis of faith.
“I am of the opinion that if a title suit on land dispute is being settled on the basis of faith and believe by the court, it might take us to serious trouble,” said Mr Gogoi.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
