Diggy: Karkare call record not available

AICC general secretary in-charge of Assam, Digvijay Singh, on Tuesday insisted that he was not lying and he did speak to Hemant Karkare hours before the chief of the Anti-Terror Squad in Maharashtra was killed during 26/11.

Mr Singh, who earlier claimed to have records, told reporters, “I had contacted GM BSNL Bhopal to get the call records of my personal mobile number 9425015461 but now they told me that they do not keep records for more than a year.” The incident is of 2008.
He however stood by his comments, saying, “I am absolutely certain of what I have said, I stand by what I have said.”
Clarifying the remark that implied Hindu groups may have caused Karkare’s death, Mr Singh said, “I never doubted the role of Pakistani elements in the Mumbai attacks, but stood by my remarks about Karkare facing threat from right-wing elements.”
Mr Singh reiterated that he had not stated that Karkare was killed by a Hindu group.
He said Karkare was receiving threats because of his investigation into the Malegaon blast which saw right-wing extremists being arrested for allegedly planning and executing the attack.
The Congress general secretary once again trained his guns on the BJP leaders while accusing former deputy PM Lal Krishna Advani of demoralising the police officer like Karkare, who exposed Hindu terror group of right wing, by calling him a traitor.
He reiterated that Karkare was upset about Mr L.K. Advani and Mr Rajnath Singh questioning his sincerity, adding, “There is no need for me to speak a lie.”
The controversy that started in New Delhi has now reached to Assam as well with former chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta charging Mr Singh of linking a sensitive issue to a particular religion in a bid to whip up communal frenzy in Assam going to polls in next four months.
Mr Mahanta argued that if Congress leader was aware about such an conspiracy why they were silent so far.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
