Dimasa chief arrested by NIA in Nepal
In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency on Saturday arrested the self-style commander-in-chief of Dima Halem Daogah Niranjan Hojai from Nepal and brought him to New Delhi in connection with a case relating politicians-ultras nexus in Assam.
The security sources told this newspaper that self-style commander in chief of DHD was asked to appear before the NIA immediately after his surrender and ceasefire agreement with the Assam government but he evaded his appearance and managed to slip from the hands of security forces.
The NIA was tracking down his movement since then and in June this year, he was traced to have been taking shelter in Nepal. In the first week of June, the Nepal police, acting on a specific tip-off, arrested Hojai from his hideout near Kathmandu but before the NIA reached to take the custody, he managed to escape from the custody of Nepal police.
The security sources said that NIA team which was following his movement on Friday, nabbed him again with the help of Nepal police and brought him back to New Delhi on Saturday.
The NIA will produce the DHD commander before the court on Monday to take his custody for his interrogation in a case relating the politician-ultras nexus.
