‘Disabled’ girl is MNC employee ‘chain snatcher’
Bengaluru: This should make everyone think before helping others, even if they are disabled. An unidentified girl, who seemed to be disabled, robbed an MNC employee of a gold chain when he offered her a lift on Tuesday night.
The victim, 40-year-old K.L. Gopalakrishna, was heading home on Double Road from his office on Residency Road, when he noticed a girl asking for a lift from passing vehicles at the Richmond Road junction opposite Aravind Motors. As she looked like a disabled, he stopped the vehicle and offered to drop her.
While on the way, the girl kept falling on him and asked him if he could take her to a hotel. When Gopalakrishna refused, she told him to drop her back at the Richmond Circle.
After dropping her, he checked all his belongings and found that his gold chain was missing. He immediately looked for her, but the girl had gone missing, the police said.
As Gopalakrishna had some guests from Germany, he could not file the complaint the same day. He filed the complaint on Thursday.
The value of gold chain is estimated around Rs 50,000.
The police said, “We are trying to see whether the accused girl’s image has been captured by the traffic police surveillance cameras at Richmond Circle. This is the only hope to identify the accused. The victim too has given the description of the girl.”
But he should have been cautious while offering lift to a stranger, the police added.
