Dispute arises over Rajmata’s property
After a brief lull, the dispute over the huge property left behind by late Rajmata Gayatri Devi has come out in the open while two of the family members of Jaipur’s ex-royal family had filed a suit before a local court and
challenged the succession certificate issued in favour of late Rajmata’s grandchildren Devraj and Lalitya.
The local court posted the matter for May 20 hearing.
The late Rajmata’s step-son Prithviraj and her step-sister Urvarshi had filed a plaint before the district court and questioned the pact signed between the late Rajmata and her grandchildren last year on the right of property.
“When the so-called settlement was signed between the Rajmata and her grandchildren, the Rajmata was not well and not able to walk,” said plaintiff’s lawyer Ramjilal Gupta.
The plaintiff described such settlement as fake and questioned its legality. “We have also challenged the succession certificate obtained by Devraj and Lalitya,” said Mr Gupta. But Devraj’s lawyer M.M. Ranjan refutes it saying that the late Rajmata made her grandchildren her legal successor. We will contest it and we have legal reason and rights, Mr Ranjan said.
