DMK might send names after meeting on July 23-24
DMK president M. Karunanidhi, who has been sore with the Congress ever since his party faced a rout in the Assembly elections and over the subsequent arrest of his daughter Kanimozhi by the Central Bureau of Investigation, is reportedly happy over Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s remarks that he kept two Cabinet slots vacant for the DMK and it was part of coalition dharma.
A reluctant DMK chief may name his nominees for these slots only after the party’s general council meeting on July 23-24, sources said.
Mr Karunanidhi told reporters he had not sought any replacement in the reshuffle for the party following the resignations of A. Raja and Dayanidhi Maran over the 2G spectrum scam.
“I will reveal details of the discussions that I had with finance minister Pranab Mukherjee and the decisions taken on it after the Coimbatore general council meeting,” he said.
