Do not push me too far: Mamata
Upset by the CPI(M)’s persistent charge that she was spending black money in the elections, Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday launched a counter attack. “How have they accumulated crores. Certainly not by selling coupons. My party does not even have `5 crores. Where did they got crores of rupees from?” she
asked. Addressing an election rally at Kharda in North 24 Parganas, Ms Banerjee said that the CPI(M) was the fourth richest party in India. “They have properties from Indonesia to Russia. We will unearth all their undisclosed assets after coming to power,” she warned.
She claimed that her party had not indulged in any financial irregularities. “We have submitted our accounts according to the guidelines of the Election Commission. We have nothing to hide,” she added. Taking pains to defend her integrity, she said that despite being the railway minister she did not even use the ministry’s car.
Ms Banerjee revealed that many people offered her money but she did not accept.
“Do not push me too far otherwise you will have to face the music,” she warned the CPI(M).
She said that the CPI(M) had many skeletons in its cupboard which she threatened to expose. Unfazed, chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, CPI(M) leaders Biman Bose and Gautam Deb continued their diatribe about Ms Banerjee’s alleged use of black money.
