Docs at Safdarjung Hospital go on strike
Demanding better security, nearly 700 resident doctors of Safdarjung Hospital here on Tuesday went on an indefinite strike after one of their colleagues was allegedly beaten up by relatives of a patient.
The incident occurred on Monday when the doctor working with gynaecology department was beaten up by relatives of the patient.
"We are on strike since 9.30 am on Tuesday and this will continue till our demands for better security are met," General Secretary of residents Doctors Association, Safdarjung Hospital, Dr Raj told PTI.
"This is the not the first time that an incident like this with a doctor has happened inside the hospital premises. Every second day patients' relatives manhandle doctors and nothing has been done to ensure our security," he said.
"When we talked to the Medical Superintendent he said that a tender for security has been floated and it is almost two months and no development has taken place in this regard," Dr Raj claimed.
